IWiSH

Springboard’s IWISH programme, (Into Work in Scottish Hospitality), is a nine week programme which introduces, trains and inspires new staff to find careers in hospitality, tourism and leisure. Following a five week, classroom based training programme, which includes certificated qualifications in Basic First Aid, Elementary Food Hygiene, Customer Care, Health & Safety and Staff Working in Scottish Licensed Premises, IWISH gives employers a chance to meet their need for motivated, appropriately trained staff through offering four week, supported, work placement opportunities.  During the work experience element, candidates are supported by Springboard staff. Springboard meets all candidate costs including travel and any special clothing requirements. Employers have no extra cost and gain the advantage of having potential new staff members on a four week trial

Quick to the Cut

Working in close partnership with the Highland Employers Coalition and Jobcentre Plus, Springboard has delivered QTTC programmes throughout the Highlands. Each twelve week, intensive course trained up to six absolute novices to an SVQ Level 2 in Professional Cooking. For many participants, these programmes have changed their lives from long term unemployment to the prospect of having enjoyable, worthwhile jobs and good career prospects. Many employers in hospitality and leisure throughout our area are acutely aware of a shortage of appropriate kitchen staff so these newly qualified, enthusiastic recruits are a most welcome addition to the workforce.

Bridging the Gap

Bridging Programmes held from Thurso to Campbeltown, gave large numbers of unemployed people the opportunity to learn about our industry and to gain valuable skills in team working, motivation, confidence and job hunting as well as certificated courses in Elementary Food Hygiene and Health and Safety
